Lots to say today!

Ok, I have a lot to write, and not a lot of time to write it in. I have an 8AM class tomorrow, so I have to get up around 6:30ish. Which means I have to get to bed around 10:30ish. Ok anyway. Enough time talking about time.

I'M TWENTY NOW!!! Ok, so I've been 20 for a week now... but yeah. Last time I wrote here, I was 19. Now I'm not. Because I'm 20. I was glad to spend my birthday at home. We celebrated it the night before at my grandparents house so that my aunt and uncle could go. We had steak!! Yummm! Then on my birthday, I went apple picking with a couple friends and then had lasagna (favorite food EVER) for dinner. Got back to school on the 11th, and then on the 13th (I think it was the 13th, anyway?) my friends here threw me a surprise party, which was awesome and fun. :)

Got a 95 on my history midterm (Yeahhhhhhh!!!!!!) which is so freaking AWESOME!!! I hate history, and it's really not my best class (I've been averaging about a 75 on the quizzes, and 80 on the primary source assignments) so getting that grade is really exciting for me.

Art midterm is tomorrow, and I'm totally not ready for it. I have to write a 10-15 page paper for that class, due on November 10th. Gonna start research soon. I think my topic is kinda interesting though, so I guess that's good. The topic I chose (from the list she gave us to choose from) is to discus "how and why some of Henri Cartier-Bresson photographs can be considered the pioneer of photojournalism." Also tomorrow, a psych test that I haven't studied for at all. I don't even know what the test is on. Yay for being completely unprepared! Ughh. I'll study right before it, I guess.

I have a roommate now. I don't remember if I've written that here already or not, but yeah. It's awesome :) We get along really great, which is totally awesome. We're both like 5 year olds sometimes, and we both love Harry Potter and stuff like that. I really like having a roommate, and I like that I already knew my roommate and we were already friends before we became roommates.

My floor carved pumpkins together tonight, which was fun! I tried to make mine look like Puss In Boots from the Shrek movies, and it actually kinda does!

The picture does it no justice, I know, but trust me. It looks like Puss In Boots. I'm legit surprised at how good it came out. I did a wolf pumpkin carving last year, and I think I actually like this one better.

Ok, it's about quarter after 10 now, and I still have to brush my teeth and make my bed before I can sleep.. so if I'm gonna be in bed by 10:30, I have to stop writing for now. Good night! :)

Eight Months Later

Eight months ago today, I was diagnosed as autistic.  And some days I feel like I’m still processing that diagnosis.  It’s something that, for so long, I had thought/suspected about myself and I thought, because I’d thought it for so long, that that knowing wouldn’t change anything.  And in some ways, most ways, nothing in my life has changed except that   I   know now and so do other people.  I mean, I’d started accommodating myself before that diagnosis – I got a weighted blanket for when I was experiencing anxiety or restlessness or just couldn’t sleep; I bought Loop earplugs to help with noise and started wearing them to things like concerts or hockey games or even the plays that we go to; I keep fidget toys at my desk at work; hell I even started keeping my hair short so it wouldn’t be   touching  me because I hate that sensory experience so much – so in my head, I thought it would be the same, I’d just be more knowledgeable about myself....

The Next President...

I didn't sleep last night; I was too afraid that America was going to make the worst possible decision.  And we did.  Somehow, Donald Trump became the president-elect.  Somehow, enough people actually voted for him.  Somehow, people support his racism , sexism , homophobia , Islamophobia .  Somehow, people were able to look past not only the fact that he has virtually no political experience and was the least qualified candidate for the job, but they were also able to look past the way he treats women and the fact that he's sexually assaulted multiple women.  (Wondering why it takes people so long to come forward about abuse?  Because we live in a country where their assailant can become leader of the free world.) A Trump presidency scares me so much.
