Speaking of...
I'm home from Florida (have been for a couple weeks now), and I still haven't been bothered to change the header on here. So I guess we're still working under the assumption that I'm 23. On that note, why change it at all? Why not just stay 23 forever? Why not just keep claiming I'm 23 until I actually look that age? Because if that's the case, this say I'm 23 until I'm like... 40. Maybe. (I will change it... eventually.)
I'm still doing the 52 week money challenge, which absolutely amazes me - I mean, the fact that I stuck with this for the entire year... and have only 5 more dollar amounts left to put in my jar... I honestly didn't think I would do it. I thought I would miss a week and give up. I thought I would forget. I thought it'd be something I'd get bored with doing by halfway through the year. But I didn't. I didn't forget, didn't give up, didn't get bored with it. And I've managed to save over $1,000! I think, for me, it had so much to do with actually physically seeing the money add up. I feel like if it was in my bank account, I wouldn't have stuck with it because when it's in my bank account, it almost doesn't seem real. I don't know how to explain that, because I know it's there and I know it's mine and I know it's real, but it just doesn't feel "real" if I can't see it. I don't know, maybe it doesn't make sense. Maybe I'm just weird. Yeah, that's probably it.
But speaking of that 52 week money challenge (which I most definitely plan on doing again next year), at first I didn't know what I was going to do with the $1,378 I'd have saved by the end of the year. I was trying to figure out - would I just make one massive payment towards my student loans? Would I make a large purchase? (on what, I don't even know).. Would I just put it all in my bank account? Or put it in a savings account? Well, I figured it out. A bit. My family is going on a cruise next summer, and we've all got to buy our own tickets. My sister and I will be sharing a room, and we have to put a $500 deposit down soon (when? I don't know. I'm still waiting for my grandparents to answer me back on that one). So I think this next payday, I'm going to put the remaining amount for the year into my jar. Then, over the weekend, I'll deposit the full amount into my bank account so I have the money I need for the down payment for the cruise. It'll also help with Christmas shopping! And then, the rest I'll just save. It'll probably wind up going towards my cat's insulin, my part of the cell phone bill, student loan payments....
Speaking of student loan payments! I'm actually pretty far ahead on my payments. I have nothing due until March on most of the loan groups, nothing due until May for the one with the highest interest rate, and (thanks to an accidental mis-click on my part) nothing due until November 2017 for the one with the lowest interest rate. Obviously I'm still making my monthly payment, but it feels so good to be ahead because I know that if I absolutely can't make a payment one month, it won't be the end of the world.
I'm so beyond excited for Christmas because I have such a great gift planned for my family. I'm getting everyone --- JUST KIDDING! I'm not writing it on here until after Christmas, on the off chance that any of them read this. And besides that, we've got to get past Thanksgiving first, don't we?
And speaking of Thanksgiving! I'm so excited for Thanksgiving because my brother and sister are coming up to visit! It's always so exciting when my siblings and I are all together because it happens so rarely. I can't think of a time when Nikki and I even lived in the same state as Cody and Hailey, and there's pretty much been at least a 9 hour drive between us. I'm pretty sure the last time all four of us were together was my college graduation - June 2014! Which is just crazy and far too long of a time to be away from each other.
But anyway. Work has been crazy busy lately, and I'm going in early tomorrow, so sleep is probably a good idea right about now.
