Saving money - Ibotta
If you're anything like me, you love saving money. Love it. Also if you're like me, you're typically pretty skeptical of those "money saving" apps - do they work? Are they easy to use? Most importantly, are they worth it??
I'd seen commercials on tv for the app Ibotta, but wasn't sure about it. Could you really get money back for buying the things you already buy? Could it be that simple? I toyed around with the idea of downloading it and trying it out, but I just wasn't sure about it. It wasn't until one of my best friends mentioned it in passing that I thought to myself, "okay, if she uses it, I'll give it a try." I downloaded the app just over a month ago (March 10th), and I've already earned back over $30! I just redeemed my first $25 from them a couple of days ago (I chose a $25 gift certificate to Amazon).
How it works
After you download the app (and connect to your facebook account - the app never posts to your account, but connecting to facebook allows you to become teammates with your facebook friends, which makes it easier to earn bonuses!), you unlock rebates on the things you plan on buying. Sometimes you watch a 15 second long advertisement for the item, sometimes you answer a question (like "which of the following you would be most likely to buy?" or "how many children live in your household?"), or sometimes you just have to read a quick fact about the item. Once you've unlocked the rebates, it's time to go shopping! Buy the items you've unlocked rebates for, and then once you get back home, just verify your purchases by scanning your receipt. That's it! You get your rebate within 24 hours.
What items have rebates?
Honestly, the shorter answer would be to "what items don't have rebates?"! There are rebates for TONS of different items - foods, drinks, vitamins, cleaning supplies, candles, soaps and shampoos... I personally love the any brand rebates! Any brand rebates are where you can get rebates for, well, buying any brand! And brand of bread or dish soap or laundry detergent or bacon or orange juice or paper towels...
You can use Ibotta in conjunction with other money saving apps, like the Walmart Savings Catcher app!
How do I get my money?
Once you've earned a certain about of money back ($20 for cash back via Paypal or Venmo), you can get your money. Personally, I choose to get mine back on an Amazon gift card. I like the fact that I can use the money I get back to buy books from Amazon, because then I feel like I'm not really paying for the books. If you don't want Amazon, you can choose to get it on a gift card for Best Buy, Starbucks, Sephora, iTunes, Walmart, Express, or Regal Cinemas. Or, you could get it back as cash via Paypal or Venmo.
If you sign up using my referral link, I do get $5 when you redeem your first rebate, and you get $10 for redeeming your first rebate! I totally recommend this app because it's so easy to use and honestly, who doesn't love to save money?
