Didja Miss Me?
Dudeee it's been a while since I updated. Like, I don't even know when I last really posted on here. I know it was after I got back from my dad's. So, when was that? I got back... the 14th. I dunno, maybe I posted on the 15th? or 16th? Whatever, I don't know. It doesn't matter, but it's been way too eff-ing long.
Know what I've been up to? Well, no, I guess you don't... since I haven't posted. But anyway. I'll tell you all the, um, fun that's been going on in my life. No really, some has been pretty fun.. but some has been, er... well... not-so-fun.
Did I tell you guys I've visited 2 colleges I want to transfer to recently? No? Ok then, I've recently visited 2 of the colleges I'm considering transferring to. There, now I've told you. Legit though, on the 16th I visited SUNY Plattsburgh and then on the 23rd I visited SUNY Oneonta. In October, not sure exactly what day, I'll be visiting SUNY Potsdam. Before visiting the colleges, Oneonta was my number one choice. After visitng 2 of the 3, I can safely say that........ my choice has not changed. Oneonta is still my number one choice to go to. Both campuses were really nice, and I did like both schools a lot. But, I don't know, I felt Oneonta more. I don't even know if that makes sense. But yeah.
I know I told you guys I was going to a Brad Paisley concert. I remember writing that when.... when I updated that I made a Flickr account! Ha! That means I did update some-what recently. Ok well anyway. The concert was GREAT, even though we left early because it started raining. Since Brad's tour is called the H2O tour, I thought the rain was rather appropriate. Mom, on the other hand, didn't appreciate the rain. If it was a Luke Bryan concert instead of Brad Paisley, I would have refused to leave. Ok, no I wouldn't. But, for real, he has a song called "Rain Is A Good Thing." So, come on, rain during a concert where the singer sings about how rain is a good thing... how could I leave that? It would be the most appropriate thing to happen. Ever.
K so, Brad Paisley concert. I won 2 tickets from Fly92.3, a radio station around here. Dad bought Hailey a ticket. It was supposed to be me, Hailey, and one of my friends going to the concert, but my friend bailed pretty much last minute, leaving me freaking out about who I would go with. Mom stepped in and saved the day, saying she would take Hailey and I to the concert. Nikki, who suddenly likes country music again, wanted to go too... so I paid for her ticket. Oh, but wait, since Nikki came with us, her boyfriend (Ron) came as well. He bought his own ticket. We got Nikki and Ron's tickets the day of the concert. We left the house around, I don't know, 2ish maybe, to go pick up Ron and make our way to Saratoga for the concert. Got there, waited in line for forever and a day, bought their tickets, and went into the concert area.
The front part of the lawn was opened at 5, so from 4 to five we were just wandering around the back lawn. At 4:45 there was a free mini-concert on the back lawn, but we didn't watch it. The artists performing were three really lesser-known artists. To be honest, compared to the number of people who were at the venue, not very many at all watched the mini-concert. There was a little bounce-house type waterslide Hailey went on a few times to cool off. It was sooo hot outside, but I loved it. The heat doesn't bother me all that much, I love it.
The front lawn seats opened, and Nikki, Ron, Hailey and I went down there. Lucky us, we got right up against the rail at the front of the lawn seating! Yeah, we were pretty happy about that. It was 5 o'clock at that point, and the concert didn't start until 7:30, but there was NO WAY we were leaving and giving up our right-at-the-rail spot. We spent a while talking to one of the people who works at the venue, and he gave us Silly Bands. If you don't know what they are, they're these silly little oddly-shaped rubber bands. They're really cool right now. I still don't get what's so cool about them, but I can now say I have a Silly Band. It's in the shape of a pirate monkey. And yes, it's awesome.
I LOVE DRUNK PEOPLE. Ok no, not really. But this guy named Chris and his friends Christina and Aubrey were up against the rail too, so we (ok, ok, I) spent forever and a day talking to them (ok, wow, Chris). He was cool to talk to, and he taught us how to say "I am a monkey" in chinese. In case you've ever wondered how to say it, it's "wo shi hou zi" (pronounced "woah shur haut'z"). Isn't your life so much better now that you know that? No? Wow, tough audience tonight. It's almost 11:30pm, cut me some slack, wouldja?
Ok, now, finally, finally, finally........... the concert. I know that's what you've been skimming this blog post looking for. It's not a great recap of the concert.. because I didn't know many songs by the first two singers, and then left 2 songs into Brad's set. But anyway, look no further. It's here. Well, not right here... but the next sentence.
Justin Moore performed first. If your first thought is "wait... who?", then you and I are on the same wavelength. I knew one, maybe two, of his songs. Chris knew all of them. Every word to every song. I was standing there, trying to catch on to the words of the songs so I could sing along and at least pretend I knew who this guy was.. and there next to me was Chris, singing along to every song.
After Justin, there was a 20 minute break... and then Darius Rucker!!! I like his music. No, I don't. I love his music. And yet, I knew three songs he sang. And everyone around me knew I knew those three songs. Darius was amazing, as I knew he would be. Nikki and Ron, who don't like country music, got bored after Darius' set and GAVE UP THEIR SPOTS and went to go sit with Mom and Hailey, who had gone up after Justin's set because she was tired.
Then, the man I had been waiting all day to see. BRAD. PAISLEY. I'd seen him once in concert before this. Years ago, before he was famous, he performed at the county fair. I saw him there. I don't remember how old I was, but I fell in love with his music. Anyway, I was in a great mood. Nothing, not even the rain that was starting to fall, could ruin that moment. Brad came on stage, and everyone started screaming. It was Brad Paisley. The Brad Paisley. The screams of excitement were louder than they had been at the Toby Keith concert. Brad opened his set with his current hit song, Water, and the sky opened up. Those of us in lawn seating were pretty wet, but not quite soaked, by the time the song was half over. I didn't care.... until I got a text from Mom, saying it was raining too hard and that we were leaving after the second song. I wanted to cry. Brad Paisley. I didn't want to leave. I showed the text to Chris, and he hugged me before the second song started. Brad started singing his song "Online," and I was determined to enjoy it to the fullest. I sang along as loud as I could, every word of the song. Right when the song ended, I got another text from Mom. She wanted me to hurry up and get up to her, Nikki, Ron, and Hailey so we could leave because she was not enjoying the rain. After hugging Chris twice more, and the two of us promising to keep in touch with each other, I made my way up through the crowd of people to meet up with Mom and everyone. And we left. Soaking wet, we left the Brad Paisley concert two songs into the part of the concert I'd been waiting so long to see.
And, it's almost midnight now. I'm tired. Pictures tomorrow, most likely.
