Vacation na na na

I'm home! Got back home to New York late last night after spending a week at dad's house in Virginia. It was SUCH a fun vacation! :D Now.... I'm babysitting my little sister Hailey for the rest of the summer. And random, but my internet browser keeps telling me I'm spelling her name wrong. I'm pretty sure I know how to spell my own sister's name.

As always, the train ride down to Virginia was pretty boring. It's just about 12 hours, which I really don't get because when we drive down to dad's, it only takes 9 - 10 hours. When I got there we went to Cici's, which is an amazing all-you-can-eat pizza place. I LOVE their buffalo chicken pizza. But anyway. Haha.

Thursday was just a pretty lazy day, but Friday was the TOBY KEITH concert!! Oh. My. God. The concert was AMAZING. Like... better than amazing. What's a word for "more amazing than you could ever possibly imagine"? Whatever that word is, it was that. James Otto played first, and I thought I'd never heard of him before, but I actually knew a few of his songs. Then about 20 minutes after he finished, Joe Nichols came on stage and sung for a while. I love him. Like... a lot. His music is........ indescribable. I just love it (his music) so much. After Joe, there was another 20 minute break, and then...............................

TOBY KEITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anddd that's right when Hailey fell asleep. Dad says she falls asleep at all the concerts they go to. But anyway, forget Hailey sleeping for now. Toby.... guhhhh..... amazing. Remember that "more amazing than you could ever possibly imagine" word? Yeah, that. I knew all but I think 2 of his songs, and danced and sang along with all of them (well, except the 2 I didn't know lol). I got lots of pictures, but most didn't come out that good because of how far away we were. (We had lawn seats). I got some video too, but I kinda got too into the music and forgot I was filming... and was like dancing around and stuff, so the videos are kinda.. not good. haha.

Saturday we had to pick up Cody from boyscout camp. It was rainy and kinda just ehhhh outside, so we didn't do anything Saturday either really. Cody and Hailey spent the day arguing, almost like they had to catch up on the weeks worth of arguing they missed.

Then, Sunday, we went to Ocean Breeze! It's a water-park, and was loads of fun! Hailey and I went on almost all of the water-slides. We also spent a lot of time in the wave pool just because it was fun. We all got sooo sunburned though :(

That was pretty much it. The rest of the time was just time spent with my family. The train ride yesterday went by a lot faster than the one last week did. Then I got a little bit nervous in New York Penn Station because our train from there to Hudson was delayed. For those who don't know, it's a big train station with loads of people rushing around to get to places. I was nervous because I didn't want Hailey and I to end up missing our train and also because I didn't want to lose Hailey or anything like that.

Eight Months Later

Eight months ago today, I was diagnosed as autistic.  And some days I feel like I’m still processing that diagnosis.  It’s something that, for so long, I had thought/suspected about myself and I thought, because I’d thought it for so long, that that knowing wouldn’t change anything.  And in some ways, most ways, nothing in my life has changed except that   I   know now and so do other people.  I mean, I’d started accommodating myself before that diagnosis – I got a weighted blanket for when I was experiencing anxiety or restlessness or just couldn’t sleep; I bought Loop earplugs to help with noise and started wearing them to things like concerts or hockey games or even the plays that we go to; I keep fidget toys at my desk at work; hell I even started keeping my hair short so it wouldn’t be   touching  me because I hate that sensory experience so much – so in my head, I thought it would be the same, I’d just be more knowledgeable about myself....

The Next President...

I didn't sleep last night; I was too afraid that America was going to make the worst possible decision.  And we did.  Somehow, Donald Trump became the president-elect.  Somehow, enough people actually voted for him.  Somehow, people support his racism , sexism , homophobia , Islamophobia .  Somehow, people were able to look past not only the fact that he has virtually no political experience and was the least qualified candidate for the job, but they were also able to look past the way he treats women and the fact that he's sexually assaulted multiple women.  (Wondering why it takes people so long to come forward about abuse?  Because we live in a country where their assailant can become leader of the free world.) A Trump presidency scares me so much.
