It was a fairytale ♥
My best friend and I left around 2:30 to head over to Connecticut for the Taylor Swift concert at the XL Center in Hartford. The concert started at 7, and according to mapquest was just about 2 hours away from where we live. So that would get us there around 4:30, which is way early, but the two of us have a history of getting lost... even with using a GPS. Somehow, we managed something different this time - not getting lost! We stayed in the car until around 5:30 though because Cece's phone needed to charge. Got a little confused trying to find the venue after we left the car, but we finally found it. We got our picture taken by the inflatable heart hands.
My shirt says "Long live all the mountains we moved!" and Cece's says "I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you!"
Then we just walked around for a bit, and eventually made our way over to a merch stand, where I bought a Speak Now shirt and a tour book.
And then off to find our seats! We had floor seats - section 7, row F. It must've been around 6:30 by the time we finally ended up at our seats, because I updated my twitter with "In our seats!! concert starts in about 1/2 an hour! :D" Cece and I were both really surprised at how many empty seats there were in the arena. Randy Montana performed first. I only knew one of his songs, "1,000 Faces," but I really liked him a lot. I think I'm gonna get his CD when it comes out.
Yeahh, the video is really shakey because I was so excited and couldn't stay still. But anyway. Needtobreathe was after him, and I didn't know any of the songs they sang. Well, I kinda sorta knew the first one, "The Outsiders," but I didn't know the words or anything. Once Needtobreathe came on stage, there were more people there but it was still surprisingly empty considering it was a sold out show.
One of the girls sitting behind Cece and I pointed out that the ministage was pretty much RIGHT behind us. I was really surprised because I hadn't even realized that and once I knew, I was really excited and happy and didn't know how to react, and so I think I might have been kind of rude when I answered that girl. I was like "Okayyy....?" So, girl sitting behind me at that concert last night, I don't know if you'll ever end up reading this, but please please please know I wasn't intentionally being rude. I just didn't know how to respond.
We both kept texting messages up to the big screens, hoping that they would show up on the screens, but no luck. Oh well. We were sitting there, singing along to the music that was being played, and one of the songs got cut off about half-way though and another song came on. "American Girl" by Tom Petty. I freaked out. I was like "OH MY GODDDD SHE COMES ON AFTER THIS SONG!!!!! THIS IS THE SONG SHE COMES ON AFTER!!!!" I looked around the arena and noticed it had suddenly filled up. There were hardly any empty seats, not that I could see anyway.
The lights dimmed and everyone was standing up and jumping up and down and screaming and just completely freaking out. I really don't think I've ever seen so many glow sticks in one place before! A lot of people had signs that lit up; I thought they were really cool. My favorite of the light-up signs though was a big one that said TAYLOR.
When Taylor came on stage, I was SO happy. I don't remember the last time I smiled so much! I had a HUGE smile on my face the whole time! Everyone was singing along to every song, so loud. It was really such a great, happy, exciting, environment to be in.
This picture, even though it came out blurry, is one of my favorites that I took last night. It's from when she was singing "Mine."
When she sang "Better Than Revenge," she was wearing this red dress and she looked so stunning. You know how sometimes you just get caught off guard by something so incredibly beautiful, and your breath gets like caught in your throat for a minute? Yeah, I was like that. And then I realized she was singing "Better Than Revenge," and I loveloveLOVE that song - it's one of my favorites and so I was like dancing and jumping up and down and freaking out (just like everyone else was).
After she sang "Speak Now," she came down through the floor section to go to the ministage. Cece and I were kind of in the middle of our row - there were 14 seats in the row, we had seats 9 and 10, but there was no one on the other side of Cece, the side where Taylor would walk past!! So I went there, and she walked by and I touched her hand... and I cried. I was so happy; I couldn't believe it!
When she was at the ministage, if you had floor seats you could go over and stand around it while she sang there, so obviously Cece and I were among the crowd of people who went over to be closer to Taylor while she was singing. I got some really good pictures while we were by the ministage.
(Ok so that last picture isn't that great... but there's something about it that I really really really love.)
And then she started singing "You Belong With Me," and I totally spazzed out because that's another of my favorites of her songs. I was dancing around like a total fool, which people who know me would probably be surprised about. Maybe. Because it's something I normally wouldn't do, especially with so many people around. But I didn't care about the people around because it was just so much fun.
There were fireworks on stage during "Dear John"!! I mean, I knew there was going to be, because I had read about it. But it was amazing to see it, to really see it.
And I loved how in "Haunted," the dancers were up in the air, hanging from the bells. It was really cool!
To me, it sounded like the audience sang along the loudest during "Long Live." I mean, everyone sang along really loud to every song, but I think "Long Live" was when everyone was the loudest.
That concert was, no lie, the best concert I've ever been to. I've been to two Jonas Brothers concerts, two Brad Paisley concerts, two American Idol concerts, a Toby Keith concert, and a Kidz Bop concert (that last one's a long story...), but that Taylor Swift one was without a doubt, absolutely positively the BEST one I've ever been to. I'd LOVE to see her again some time. It was just... such a magical night. It was like a fairytale. Or a really great dream. That's the only way I can describe it - a magical fairytale.
Thank you Taylor for the best night of my life. Thank you SO much.
