Dear little Princesses

Dear Candis and Izzy,

Here's something you both already know: you two are two absolutely incredible little girls.  Candis, I cannot get over how fast you're growing up.  I don't know why, kiddo, but I still always picture you as the tiny little not-quite-two year old you were when you and Mommy lived at the apartment.  And man, tiny is an understatement.  You were so so little.  But now!  Now you're five and you're in school!  That's just so crazy to me.  Where has the time gone?

And you, Izzy, you're growing up fast as well.  Two years old already!  Oh my gosh, I remember when your Mommy posted on facebook that she was pregnant with you, and now you're two already!  You, little girl, have the most infectious laugh and smile in the entire world.  When you laugh, the whole world smiles, and I hope that is something that never ever changes.

It was so great to see you two today!  My mom and I stopped by your house to see you two and your Mommy and Daddy, and I gave you two your Christmas presents from me -- matching "Frozen" outfits.  The shirts were a little bit too big, but you'll both grow into them!  Both of you are such sweet and polite kids.  When I handed you your presents, you both said "thank you" before even opening them.  Your parents are raising you both so well, and I hope you two know just how good you have it with them.  I was a little bit nervous about getting you guys clothes again this year.  Not so much you, Izzy, but you, Candis.  You're almost six, and so I had to worry... would you want clothes?  Would you be happy with them?  Or would you just say "thank you" and let them fall to the wayside, secretly (or not-so-secretly) hoping I had bought you a toy?  It turned out I had nothing at all to worry about!  Your face when you saw Olaf on the sweater dress, and Anna and Elsa on the leggings!  You were so happy and so appreciative!  You said thank you (again! so polite!) and immediately wanted to put on your new outfit.  You made me so happy.

Don't think I've forgotten your reaction, Izzy.  You smiled and giggled as you tore off the wrapping paper.  "I did it!" you exclaimed, as you ripped off a piece of wrapping paper.  You opened the box (with Mommy's help) and, when you saw the same thing as your sister got, your little face absolutely lit up.  You were such a happy little girl when you saw that outfit!  Just like sissy, you wanted to put yours on right away too.  I was hoping you would both like the "Frozen" outfits, but I had no idea they would be as big a hit to you two as they were.

You two gave me the grand tour of your bedrooms and your playroom and introduced me to your beautiful little kitten, Princess Buttercup.  "This is my room!" you proudly said to me, gesturing around your room.  "But it's messy because Izzy dumped the popcorn..."  Candis, do you know what amazes me?  How well you speak now.  I remember the baby words.  I remember when love was "luh" and thank you was "tank" and when I was "Kimky".  But now, now... you're just so grown up, and it amazes me every time.

Candis, do you remember when Izzy was a little baby?  I know she's not a little baby anymore (she says she's going to grow "big big big to the ceiling!"), but when she was, I think, a couple of months old  I was talking to you on the phone one time and asked how you liked being a big sister.  "I don't know," you said (you were only just barely four), "she cries and makes dirty diapers.  She has big eyes."  And that was it.  Just two short years ago, that was your description of your little sister.  That has changed so much!  The love between the two of you is so beautiful, and I hope that never changes.  You two are so lucky to have each other.  I hope you watch each other's backs as you grow up, and always look out for each other.  You might argue and fight at times, but when it comes down to it, as sisters, you're automatically best friends.  No matter what, you love and protect each other.

This is getting long, so I'll stop for now.  I'll see you two on New Years!  I'm so excited for the slumber party we're going to have - painting our nails and braiding each other's hair and watching Brave AND Frozen!  We're going to have a blast!

Love,
Aunt Kim
