Home tomorrow!

Well, I'm finally done with my first semester of my junior year old college! My first semester at a 4 year school, instead of just a community college. My first semester away from home. My first semester at a school where I knew no one when I got here.

And you know what? It wasn't that bad. In fact, it was pretty great. Not pretty great, really great.

Yes, tears were shed when I first got here. I was alone for the first time and scared and I didn't know what to do. But those tears were gone so fast as I quickly made friends with some amazing people on my floor.

At first, when I didn't have a roommate, I was lonely. I went to class, hung out with friends, and did school work during the day, but at night when everyone went back to their room with their roommate, I went back to an empty room. It was my side, and nothing. It was so sad and empty, and I hated it. I learned to enjoy the privacy, but I still wanted a roommate. Then a bit less than half-way through the semester, Anna and I became roommates, and I was (and still am) SO happy about that. At first, right after we became roommates, people would ask me if I really liked having a roommate or not, and I could be 100% honest with them and say that yes, I love having a roommate. I love having someone to talk to, someone to have late-night conversations with into the early hours of the morning. I love having someone to be a little kid with, to do arts and crafts and watch movies and just be silly with. I honestly could not have asked for a better roommate.

There were so many pointless fire alarms because of drunk people being drunk, freshmen boys being, well, freshmen boys, and careless construction workers. One of the fire alarms was because a freshman boy put play-doh in a microwave. According to a friend of mine who knows the freshman responsible for said fire alarm, when the microwave started to smoke, he freaked and left the room, locking it behind him. His excuse was that he just doesn't think. Once there was an actual fire. Once. And it was a "small fire at the construction site" because of the construction workers. I think it was our first fire alarm/drill that was early in the morning (2:30ish? I think). That one was before I had a roommate, and when it went off, I had no idea what was going on. My first thought, honestly, was that I was just dreaming. It was cold outside, but because I was half asleep and didn't fully know what was going on, I grabbed Rover (my toy dog I've had since I was 3) instead of a jacket. Good to know I've got my priorities in order, right?

I learned to like college food. It's better than high school (but then again, everything is better than high school food) but no where near as good as home-cooked food. The only real downside is that is gets so boring and repetitive so fast.

I learned how to handle college courses. Yeah, yeah, I'm a junior. I've done 2 years already. Whatever. I did two years at a community college, and as much as I loved it there, I was doing harder work in high school than I did at community college. I class I effortlessly got an A in at community college, I ended up in that same class again (got screwed over when I transferred, look a few posts back if you're really interested) and I'm pretty sure I'm only getting a B in it here.

And now, I'm going to bed. I'm tired. But I'll probably think of more I wanted to say, so I might post again tomorrow. Maybe.
