December 8th

I have nothingggggg to write tonight, but I'm writing anyway just because I said I wanted to try to update here everyday.

It's getting so so SO close to the end of the semester.  I seriously can not believe it.  Like, at all.  It's so crazy.  Like... I know I already went through and did this once, but whatever.  ONE more lab, and it's the practical.  So we're not doing any more labs.  5 more science classes, but 2 of those are tests, so technically only 3 more science classes.  3 more literature classics classes.  Two more psych classes, but one is optional and the other is a test, so I'm actually done with psych for the semester (*sad face*  I LOVE psych.  I can't wait til next semester when I'll be taking Educational Psychology).  3 more creative writing classes, but next week half the class goes on one day, and half goes the other, so it's really only 2 more creative writing classes.  Seriously, how insane is that?? Like, where the heck did the semester go????

I can't wait to give my neighbors their Christmas presents!  Have I already said that in a post this month?  Whatever.  I got a picture of all 4 of the kids and put it with a quote saying that "the best thing to hold onto in life is each other".  I'm giving that to Pat; I think she'll really like it.  And for the kids, I got the boys matching Toy Story pajamas and the girls matching Dora the Explorer pajamas.  I'm giving them all their presents on the 22nd, since I'm leaving on the 23rd to go to Dad's house.

Eight Months Later

Eight months ago today, I was diagnosed as autistic.  And some days I feel like I’m still processing that diagnosis.  It’s something that, for so long, I had thought/suspected about myself and I thought, because I’d thought it for so long, that that knowing wouldn’t change anything.  And in some ways, most ways, nothing in my life has changed except that   I   know now and so do other people.  I mean, I’d started accommodating myself before that diagnosis – I got a weighted blanket for when I was experiencing anxiety or restlessness or just couldn’t sleep; I bought Loop earplugs to help with noise and started wearing them to things like concerts or hockey games or even the plays that we go to; I keep fidget toys at my desk at work; hell I even started keeping my hair short so it wouldn’t be   touching  me because I hate that sensory experience so much – so in my head, I thought it would be the same, I’d just be more knowledgeable about myself....

The Next President...

I didn't sleep last night; I was too afraid that America was going to make the worst possible decision.  And we did.  Somehow, Donald Trump became the president-elect.  Somehow, enough people actually voted for him.  Somehow, people support his racism , sexism , homophobia , Islamophobia .  Somehow, people were able to look past not only the fact that he has virtually no political experience and was the least qualified candidate for the job, but they were also able to look past the way he treats women and the fact that he's sexually assaulted multiple women.  (Wondering why it takes people so long to come forward about abuse?  Because we live in a country where their assailant can become leader of the free world.) A Trump presidency scares me so much.
